Rivals & Miscommunication
Sadie and Max are rival contestants on a singing show. Their dynamic together plays well for the audience and forces the two to join forces as partners, musically and romantically. While the romance is fake, the music is anything but. I started this as an advanced copy prior to publishing but wasn't really in the mood for it so I put it on pause... for a year. OOPS! But ultimately, it didn't work for me despite the delay. I liked the premise (rivals to lovers at Christmas) and the cover is so cozy and pretty but the execution was a little lackluster. The miscommunication was high and I wanted more depth out of their character arcs. Plus Max's stringing her along was overplayed and made me hate him a little bit. Thank you to Putnam and Netgalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.

Christmas in Nashville
After being chosen as a contestant on the popular reality singing show Starmaker, Sadie can feel her big break just beyond her fingertips. Though the competition is tough, her biggest rival will be Max Brody. Coming from a huge country music family Sadie can't figure out why Max would need a show like Starmaker to get noticed. His father is practically Nashville royalty. So when the show pairs the two of them up for the duet round Sadie was determined to outshine Max and prove that she has what it takes to be a star. When their song is a major hit their agents come up with a plan to help both of them win...fake a relationship and fall in "love". Only problem is Sadie and Max can't stand each other. Not willing to let anything stand in her way of success Sadie agrees to deal with Max if it means her music will be heard but as she gets to know Max she realizes maybe she made a huge mistake. I loved Maggie Knox's (pen name for the writing duo of Karma Brown and Marissa Stapley) Christmas book last season but this year's was sadly a miss for me. The story felt disjointed, was full of miscommunication and just didn't have a groove that I felt settled in while reading. I loved the different setting with the book being in Nashville but wish it had more than a sprinkling of Christmas and had more connected moments with Sadie and Max. Though this wasn't my favorite I'm still looking forward to whatever this duo comes up with next holiday season.

a brilliant story
This was a brilliant story that was close to getting full marks. I certainly became invested in this storyline. I even found myself telling the characters what to do out loud, lol. You might feel like this book will be predictable, but I certainly couldn't guess what would happen next. It's asked full of unexpected twists and turns. That are likely to thrill you or at least provoke emotions. I like all the characters, especially those you love to hate. There was never a dull moment in this story. I definitely enjoyed every minute of this page turning novel. I certainly recommend reading it, especially if you love talent shows like x factor, etc. I loved the pace of thos novel as there were always things happening. I found this book extremely difficult to put down and read it all in one morning. So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating this interesting and unique story that definitely kept me entertained. I will definitely be looking out for more books by this brilliant author.

Not my fav
In the nicest way possible, if these main characters could communicate, this book could have been 5 chapters. It was cute and christmassy but man these two characters were annoying. This one really drug for me because it was hard to see past the miscommunication trope that went on for too long. It had potential but it wasn’t executed great for me. I think there are better places to spend your precious holiday reading time. I know a lot of people had similar feelings to this for the Holiday Swap, which I did enjoy last year, but I think seeing those reviews skewed this one for me.

Read in one evening
I read this book in almost one sitting (had to make dinner), but did finish this in one day. Sadie and Max are part of a reality singing competition show in Nashville. Sadie is trying to make it big and Max is trying to escape his famous last name thanks to his father. After an initial pairing, Sadie and Max end up becoming a duo and in a fake relationship. When real life starts to intervene, these two realize they have a history together. What happens when you develop feelings in a fake relationship? Of course, you throw yourself into work - but Sadie and Max have different ways to doing this. What happens when you have to perform as that duo a year later? I loved all but one character (and you'll know who when you get there). This would be a perfect holiday movie. It's the perfect mix of reality competition and romance.

Fake dating trope at its best! Loved this book.
Fake dating trope, a country singer competition tv show and a whole lot of miscommunication is what is involved in the romance book that does have some humor in it too. Two country singers want to be famous and to do so, end having to fake date while competing together on a tv show. I really fell for Max early on. Although I wish he hadn’t been so afraid to be public about his love of knitting. I think it is a fabulous stress reliever and actually not an easy thing to master. Good for him! Plus, he’s a dog owner and loves animals. Love him. Spoiler below I was a bit upset with Sadie for not letting Max know about her Gran passing away it just led them down another rabbit whole of not letting each other in on things. She called him out on that earlier in the book, so why Sadie, why? Of course it was great that the snake that is Cruz gets put in his place by the end. I also enjoyed that both characters straightened out their issues with their own family members before coming together. That was wrapped up nicely.

There is no second book slump for the writing duo,
All I Want for Christmas is a great holiday romance. It is filled with Christmas magic set in the Nashville country music scene. The classic tropes of enemies-to-lovers and fake dating are brought to life by, Sadie and Max. The two are spontaneously thrown together as a duo during their time on a country reality show, but quickly learn you can’t fake chemistry. This book is a slow burn that had me on the edge of my seat. In fact, I had to put my book down at times, because all I wanted to do was shake some sense into them. While the reader is forced to wait patiently for the two to get their act together, once they do it is pure perfection. This book is a cute, fast read. It does cover some more difficult topics such as death, sexual harassment, the breakdown of family, etc. While these are difficult subjects to read, Knox does a good job of keeping it on the lighter side. Special thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Cute Holiday Rom-Com
I enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. I was so mad at Max for not talking about how he is feeling but Sadie did the same thing too but I love when they did talk about they feel to other people. They will talk about it. It was a cute book and I enjoyed it. @Putnambooks
