Looks good but...

I purchased the 5 piece bedroom set. Got all of the other pieces before the bed, and they looked great. When the bed got here, it looked good but the finish seemed different. You can definitely tell that this is made of laminated pieces of wood on the bed frame and headboard, whereas the other pieces appeared to be made of a single piece. At least the finish was done to be seamless. Macy sells a lighter finish bedroom set, a bit more expensive, but better made. Should have gone for that one instead.

Mattress sits too high with a box spring

I was told that I needed a box spring for this bed so I purchased the low-profile. Once it was delivered, the mattress sat 33" from the floor with the box-spring, which was way too high to get in and out of bed and once pillows were placed on the bed, you couldn't even see the headboard. Obviously, the display did not have a box spring or I would have seen how high the mattress was from the floor. Even though this bed is not considered a platform bed, there are plenty of slats for support and I'm not worried about not using the box spring. The only other alternative would be to return the entire bedroom set and start shopping all over again, but I like this too much. Macy's has agreed to pick up the box spring and give me a full refund.

Beautiful!

This bed is beautiful! We have the cal king, and may end up not using our box spring because it makes the bed very tall, and it looks like we don't need to since there are close wooden slats and a center support.

I bought the Avondale bedroom set two months ago. Everyone that has seen it completes my furniture. It's beautiful. I'm still in love with it.

Excellent quality

I could not be more please with this purchase. The quality is excellent and it is so pretty. You do not need to use a box spring, it will be entire too high and look silly if you do. If you are on the fence about this purchase, jump off and do it. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful and sturdy!

I was at the store and this piece of furniture caught my eye. The design is simple but classic. Knowing it's made of Acaicia, I quickly looked up on line to find info of Acaicia wood. After some research about Acaicia I decided to place an order by calling the toll free number (the rep at the store was busy assisting other customer) and have it finance for 12 months. I got the bed delivered two days later. I really love this bed. It's nice looking and sturdy.
