Tired of supposedly high-quality bags that failed in various ways after a couple of years, I paid over twice as much for this suitcase with a lifetime guarantee. After taking it to Turkey from the United States, I'm satisfied with its practicality and apparent durability. All the materials seem to have been chosen without compromise, and for me the size was nearly perfect for a two-week trip that also included a backpack for the plane. I was allowed to carry it on all legs from Portland to Amsterdam to Istanbul, although the Turkish airline SunExpress required that I check it for the Izmir to Munich return leg and it was checked through to Portland. In Portland the bag arrived with all the zippers fully closed, although it wasn't locked or secured since I hadn't expected to check it. I'll be using the included TSA lock in the future. I would expect a bag of this price to include some simple documentation, especially for unique features such as the compression system, which makes an alarming noise. I sent four questions to Briggs & Riley customer support about this and other things I was confused about. They were all answered quickly and politely. But a small, well-written and illustrated guide would have been better, and for nearly seven hundred dollars, I would expect one.

Great suitcase
This is an outstanding piece of luggage. I have carried it for thousands of miles, mostly on board. I’ve only checked it twice and it held up beautifully. I had to take duck tape to the inside netting but other than that, it has been amazing and now I’m getting one for my husband

Super heavy
This is my second B&R bag. I thought I would like it just as much as the first, but it’s just too heavy. I appreciate how well it’s made, but it makes it difficult to pack for overhead bins since it’s heavy before I even put anything in it. I honestly wish I had picked a different B&R bag. I also don’t care for the compression system as it undoes itself really easily (especially if you use the outer bag attachment). Anyway, I would consider a different B&R bag unless you’re just looking for super durability.

Great Bag
I have an older version of this bag - I think when I bought it 10 years ago, It was called the International Suiter. I am a management consultant, and fly at least two flights a week 48 weeks a year, and this is the suitcase I take. It's bulletproof, and the compressibility function allows me to pack for long trips as well as shorter ones. The B&R bags are overkill for occasional travelers (and heavier than most leisure travel bags), but for serious business travel, I wouldn't recommend anything else. Note - this bag is 15" wide, which is 1 inch above the width specification for the major US airlines. I like it because I'm able to fit two laundry-folded business shirts side by side in the bag. In ten years travelling with this bag, I was only stopped once from carrying it on board.
