I'm happy about this merchandise. I tired couple times. Soon after I cut something, I have to sharpen again. I can do better job with my stone. I'll planning to return this.
DONT BOTHER WITH THIS PURCHASE
This sharpener is absolute garbage. I get better results from rubbing two knives against each other. What a complete waste of money.
KNIFE SAVER...!
I do appreciate how this hand held sharpener does the job, including scissors, and the prize is just right...! I only hope it does keep on doing the job for a while...!
Disappointing product
Disappointing product. It does not hone a sharp edge even after several dozen swipes

Easy Cutting
The sharpener is not too big and it does a great job.
Excellent sharpener
I bought this sharpener 7 years ago when I invested in some superior Victorinox knives. It has kept my knives in like-new sharpness with ease until just recently when the honing part didn't seem to be working. I took it apart and found the diamond abrasive had worn off the honing blades, yet was still ample on the coarser sharpening blades. I don't expect a sharpener to last forever, and feel that 7 years of excellence was definitely worth the price paid. With it apart, I noticed a tiny bit of rust beginning to show on one sharpening blade, so in answer to the question about whether to immerse the sharpener in dishwater I would say "no". If it must be washed, I'd recommend drying it with a blow dryer afterwards. In fact, I'd suggest drying a knife before sharpening just to keep moisture out and discourage any rust. Still, 7 years and rust only begiinning is pretty decent. I will be happy to buy another Chef's Choice 478 sharpener, and certainly recommend it!

Inexpensive and works ok
A real knife pro probably wouldn't like it, but it has been working fine for me. It also put a decent edge on a cheap old knife that was never sharp even when it was new.
