First ever read SPOILERS
So as a 27 year old male… I’ll admit I’ve never finished a book in my life. I set a goal for myself this year to just pick up a random book and finish. This was what I picked up. The book starts very vague but does a great job of captivating the reader by leaving out certain details of each chapter that you later find out about. With that being said… I did not really like that about 80% of the book spends time explaining the history of the wars in this realm, just to find out that all of that was a lie. I can appreciate it from the standpoint that it made me immediately go buy the second book, which I have not yet started, but it made me a bit weary about the next books in the series. Hopefully they all don’t use the same writing element of changing characters and history etc. with that being said, the realm is painting out to be very intriguing. With the use of vamprys and wolven, it adds another layer of diversity between the classes. I did really appreciate the depiction of the map at the very beginning of the book. Because, like I said, this was my FIRST TIME READING a whole book, it helped me go back and visualize where certain towns were in relation to Masadonia. Another thing to note, some points of the book would go into great detail explaining romantic affairs that would sometimes be hard for me to swallow. Not that I don’t like romance, but it could get… gruesome in parts. The relationship between Hawke and Poppy is a very love/hate, toxic situation that is beautiful at moments and repulsive at others. I would definitely recommend this to someone who maybe is looking for a good story with lots of loops and holes and cliffhangers within the plot.

There are so many better romantasy/fantasy stories
Where do I even start.. the lack of diversity? The "ick" of Hawke/Poppy's relationship? The extreme plot holes and loose ends? I read FBAA because I wanted to see what all the Booksta hype was about, and I... still don't understand it. There are so many better romantasy books out there. Don't waste your time or money, it's truly not worth it.

Loved this book
I loved this book! I love the emotional roller coaster that I was on! The amount of detail in the background of all characters is amazing. The best part is where she ends the book the next book starts right off where is was left! I would definitely recommend this for reading.

Love
A little slow in the beginning but the last 15 or so chapters completely make up for it.
