The summer after his first year at Hogwarts is worse than ever for Harry Potter. The Dursleys of Privet Drive are more horrible to him than ever before. And just when he thinks the endless summer vacation is over, a creature named Dobby the house-elf shows up issuing a grave warning to Harry not to go back to school or disaster will happen! Of course, Harry has to go back- and he does so in grand style, in a flying-car magicked by his friends Ron and Percy Weasley. But getting back to Hogwarts isn't the cure Harry expects it to be. Almost immediately a student is found turned to stone, and then another. And somehow Harry stands accused. Could Harry Potter be the long-feared heir of Slytherin? Harry and friends Hermione and Fred are stretched to their limits in a desperate fight against Draco Malfoy and his gang, the hideously stuck-up new professor Gilderoy Lockheart, the malevolent owner of the diary of Tom Riddle, giant spiders, and perhaps even..Hagrid!This is the book that proves J.K. Rowling is a talent that's here to stay!.

Great Book

In the fantasy book Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling, it goes over the events of harry potter trying to escape the Dudleys (his aunt and uncle) and try to make it back to Hogwarts. he ends up escaping and hanging out with his friend Ron Wesley. I felt worried when Harry was escaping because his uncle almost caught him and it really had me invested in the book. It's definitely a good read and anyone who likes feeling what the characters are going through and just loves fantasy books in general should read it.

great read

I was very impressed with this book. As someone who is not a big reader, I didn't think I was going to enjoy this book as much as I did. This book about fantasy and magic already had an amazing concept and storytelling. While the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, was good, I didn't enjoy it as much as the sequel. This continues the story of Harry, a tongue wizard attending the magical school of Hogwarts but he is living with his terrible aunt and uncle who hate his magical endeavors. The plot is absolutely filled with mystery, adventure and a little bit of danger. Each chapter of the book really left me with the urge to read on, revealing new twists and turns as Harry and his friends explore the legendary chamber of secrets and the dark secrets hidden in the school’s walls. I really loved the characters' dynamics with each other and how all of their different personalities react to the events of the story as it makes for an emotionally investing book. I have to say though, my absolute favorite part of the book was towards the end where Ron, Hermione, and Harry are working together to get to the chamber of secrets. There is a lot of action and sacrifice. For example, The three friends needed to play a game of giant chess when Ron decides to sacrifice himself to win the game for Harry to move on which just brings in so much more depth and emotion to the story which adds a nice spin on the magical mood of the book. As like the first book, Jk Rowling's story includes the amazing aspects of this almost alien-like setting. There are things like the forbidden forest, potion making, and my personal favorite, the basilisk. The basilisk is essentially a giant serpent which lives in the chamber of secrets and gets described in such detail that it really creates an incredible and immersive experience, unlike anything I have read before. The book also does a great job of balancing the humor, tension, and suspense of Harry's story. And the contrast between the mysterious tom riddle, who writes a diary about the chamber of secrets, and harry. Harry finds this diary and basically creates the basis for the plot, the interesting piece however is how similar tom and harry are as they both speak a language called parselmouth or “snake tongue” but they eventually end up fighting and tom riddle is actually voldemort, harry;s arch nemesis who continuously tries to end harry for his own twisted reasons. In all, Harry potter and the chamber of secrets is a mesmerizing book and a great continuation of Jk rowlings’s first book in the series. With the compelling characters, rich storytelling and beautifully fleshed out world makes this book a must-read. Be warned however that reading this book will almost certainly have you hooked on this incredible story and have you dig into the rest of the series.

Great Features!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling is a great book in the fantasy genre. In "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," Harry's second year at Hogwarts is marked by a series of mysterious events, including the opening of the Chamber of Secrets and a monster that petrifies students, which Harry, Ron, and Hermione must investigate and stop. Harry and his friends have to uncover the truth to save the school after all of these mysteries. This is the second book in the series of seven Harry Potter books following Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. This book was published in 1998, and the film was released in November 2002. This book explores themes of prejudice, loyalty, and power abuse. These themes introduce concepts including the Polyjuice Potion, the Basilisk, and the Hogwarts Founders. The Polyjuice Potion highlights the prejudice in this book against the "Mudbloods" by enabling Harry, Ron, and Hermione to infiltrate the Slytherin ranks to expose the prejudice that they face. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the basilisk is a deadly creature that highlights the theme of loyalty because the creature is controlled by the successor of Slytherin. This connects to the theme of loyalty because the basilisk only obeys its rightful owner, and not even Harry, although he has a strong connection to Voldemort. Finally, the abuse of power is directly linked to the founders of Hogwarts, but especially to Salazar Slytherin. The reason for this is that the discriminatory views and actions led to the creation of the Chamber of Secrets and the subsequent threat to the school. The Chamber of Secrets happened when Slytherin's ideas clashed with the other founders, particularly Godric Gryffindor, causing Slytherin to leave Hogwarts, but not before he created the Chamber of Secrets, a hidden chamber within the school where only his heir could enter to release a monster to purge the school of Muggle-Borns. I enjoyed this book because of the compelling mystery, the iconic characters and themes, and the way that this book builds upon the world that the characters have established and created in the first book. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets also offers a deeper dive into the darker aspects of the series, including more information than most of the other books. In summary, I enjoyed reading this book, and I think that you will too, based on its mystery and intrigue, familiar characters and new introductions, deeper exploration of themes, foreshadowing and connections, and iconic moments and lines.

Harry's Second Year at Hogwarts

I enjoyed the book, and of course it was different than the movie. I loved learning more about the students and their relationships and how much closer Harry and Ron became on their many adventures. Hermione always pays attention and helps even when she can’t fully help. It always helps to know, that “when in doubt, go to the library”. I liked the introduction into Dumbledore’s pet phoenix, Fawkes. I thought it was clever how the chamber called to Harry and the steps taken to get him to learn about it. I think it’s important to remember that, “it is our choices…that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities”.
