The Furies (Charlie Parker Series #20) by John Connolly

This is actually two short novels. The first, 'The Sisters Strange'; was published online during the covid shutdown in raw form. It was a good distraction at the time. Now in an updated form the story improved quite a bit. The second story, 'The Furies'; was pretty good. It's always a bonus to see Louis and Angel. John Connolly is by far my favorite author since I discovered the Charlie Parker books a few years ago. I only wish there was more of the supernatural mixed in, I think that's when the books really kick in. There was some of that in these stories, but it was a little too subtle this time. I really miss characters like 'The Collector'. Let's hope the next novel takes my breath away like some of the earlier ones did.

Excellent
This is a favorite series of mine. This installment which consisted of two novellas was fantastic. I have to say that the second drew me in more. Many thanks to Atria and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Just excellent
The Furies is the twentieth entry in the always excellent Charlie Parker series. This book is actually a collection of two novellas, The Sisters Strange and The Furies. Both are related as a decrepit apartment building in Portland, a home for ex cons (and maybe ghosts), figures prominently in both stories. As is usual for the series, the writing is outstanding, and the plot well constructed. The Sisters Strange bad guy is Kepler, who is eerily like The Collector from the earlier novels. One of the other baddies has just started to dabble in the occult, and stole a rare coin that may have occult connections. The Furies is interesting as Parker is dealing with two cases at the same time, and a ghost lurks in the background. Another excellent entry in the Charlie Parker novels, one of my favorite series of all time.
