The One Review

In the past week I have read this whole series so fast, including the two books that come after this one. But I must say, The One was by favorite by far. With the two previous books leading and building up to all the important events in this one, I can’t imagine what it was like for the readers who had to wait for it to come out. In this book we get to see all of or favorite and least favorite characters develop both positively and negatively, and we also get to see who they really are. Though there are two books after The One, they aren’t entirely connected to the same story as the original trilogy. In a final wrap up of all the unanswered questions in The Selection and The Elite, Cass left me with my jaw hanging open in many chapters, and close to tears in others. My only complaint is that I wish each book was longer! I mean 300 pages just isn’t enough. Unlike many books, The One left me with a satisfying conclusion. Personally, I like to be told exactly what happens after, and Cass gave me just that in an unforgettable epilogue. And I thoroughly appreciated the bigger sense of adventure, because I think this story was lacking just that. Though I would have liked a little more action, we got what we needed. As the book was nearing the end, I liked to see the girls who were part of the Selection become closer to one another, and get a feel of friendship or community. They started out all as enemies all fighting for the same thing, and then some of them realized that what they were fighting for might not have been exactly what they wanted for themselves. It was nice to see them come together finally as a group and start to enjoy their time left at the castle a little more with each other. But, disaster had to strike at some point, and when it did it took two of my favorite characters! But through it all, everybody got the happily ever afters they wanted. Cass had created this painful love triangle for America, and throughout the story she is forced to figure out what she wants for her future, and how to say goodbye to her past. Overall, The One was a amazing conclusion to The Selection series, and I can definitely see myself reading it again in the coming years.

So Happy With the Ending

** spoiler alert ** This was by far my favorite book of the Selection series. Although America’s actions really annoyed me in the first two books, she really redeemed herself in my eyes in this book. The relationship between her and Maxon made me so happy and it was one of those books that I have to set down every once in a while to smile about how much I love it. Also, the girl power in this book was amazing too. This book wrapped up America’s story so well and the ending left me so happy. I would definitely read this again.

Where does America Singer’s heart lie?

The driving force for the finale of the Selection series is America’s decision as to whether or not she feels she can handle ruling a country and if her love for Prince Maxon is strong enough for that kind of pressure. And what about Aspen? The angst! Just as those decisions near, so do the rebels and the divided outside world is brought directly to the castle. It certainly proved to be a climatic finale in more ways than one.

IN LOVE

I bought the first book of the series at the store, and I didn’t buy any of the others because I didn’t know if it was a book for me. I received the 2nd and 3rd book of the series last night. I finished them by 3am. I couldn’t put these down, I just wanted more and more as I read… here I am buying the rest of the series because I can’t read another book until I know how everything ends with this story. READ READ READ. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE CAPTIVATED BY READING A BOOK THAN THIS.
